This site is dedicated to the memory of Shawn Michael Givens.

Born December 30, 1971 in San Leandro, CA, Shawn passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer in Martinez, CA on June 3, 2015. Shawn worked in the pressurized gas industry for the last 17 years as a cylinder handler, filler and driver ending his career at Praxair in Pittsburg, CA. He is preceded in death by his mother Lyn Givens and is survived by his Father Larry Givens, brothers Timothy and Robert, Uncle Richard Givens, Nephews Sam & Bobby, Niece Ashlyn, as well as numerous cousins.

As an avid bowler, Shawn’s heart was on the lanes.  His proudest moment bowling was the night he bowled an 869 series shortly after his mother had passed away.  Shawn had many achievements over his bowling career, including countless 300 games, several 800 series, and won numerous league awards for high series, game, and average.  He was always helping other bowlers improve their game. If there was a child who needed a partner, Shawn made himself available.

Shawn also enjoyed Poker, Fantasy Football and was a lifelong fan of the San Francisco 49ers, Oakland A’s, and Golden State Warriors. He enjoyed going to the games whenever he had the chance.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations go to The Shawn Givens 869 Scholarship fund set up to help children enjoy the sport that gave him so much happiness in life. www.giveforward.com – The Shawn Givens 869 Scholarship

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, June 14th, 2015 at Clayton Valley Bowl in Concord, CA at 1:00 PM.  Be sure to bring your bowling ball and shoes as lanes will be available for those who wish to bowl!  Potluck dishes will also be welcome.
